This is my official first posting for my first official Blog called Patchwork Girl. I have been inspired to start my own blog, after months of browsing all kinds of blogs, most of them creative mamas just like me...?? ....not trying to "toot my own horn"... but i try... :) ok but seriously...
I LIVE/LOVE to craft!
I love dressing my family, and making my home pretty with my hand-crafted creations. My mom plunked me in front of a sewing machine when i was 9? 10? my earliest project i can remember is a baby quilt i never finished for a baby cousin.... home-made teddy bear, which my little cousin ( who is almost 13 now... still sleeps with.. he loves the quirkiness of the way i accidentally sewed a leg on backwards.... ooops.... ;S
anyways I have the occasional hiatus... I guess I get carried away with something and get bored and then want to move onto a new exciting project... my inspiration changes all the time... I like to borrow ideas.. I think that is only natural, but to add my own twist to it...
but i don't think there is anything stopping me now!! .. I have three beautiful children i adore!!!
(the oldest and youngest I birthed myself.... my middle son came as a packaged deal.... with my fiance !) and they are my inspiration most of the time.... I love spoiling them and making them trinkets and memorabilia... I think everything has a past life and a story... that is why I am proud to say I pretty much only shop second-hand.... and love to turn trash to treasure.... scraps, unloved old clothing, strings, old boxes, old books... etc etc... the list goes on... I frequent a $1 bag sale at a recycling depot in my town, and never know what i will come home with, which is why it is so exciting!!! if it fits in a grocery bag, it is part of the bag sale!! I KNOW....!!! the most random thrills await... form vintage tableware and kitchen gadgets, shoes, toys, linens, books, I love diggin into the trash bag to find (and take home and immeadiately WASH!) my new treasure...
I am getting married June 21st. of this year!! And plan to do everything myself... well... with a little help from friends and family I hope.... but I thought this would be a wonderful way to document all of the progress and maybe... hopefully? gain some ideas and inspiration from others... and maybe meet some new friends.... win-win situation!
Anyway, anyone who maybe be out there reading this.... bear with me... I'm learning... ...slowly* ... HAHA
